Big Money

By: Jamie Preston

I was playing this free big-money game online the other day, and it really got me thinking. The game was basically your typical Tetris-style pattern matching game. You have to complete rows of coins which then drop moneybags and give you lots of imaginary cash. Although the game was pretty simple and derivative of a lot of other games, it seemed to be very popular. There were lots of references to it online, and it was clear that thousands of people played it. When I thought about this, I realized how universal the fantasy of getting rich quick is. People like to play big money because it essentially epitomizes their dream. Who wouldn't want to be able to sit at home, click buttons, and watch the money just pour in?

I guess this is why making money online is such a popular proposition. Most people, on some level, are aware that any site that promises them fabulous fortune and fame with little or no work is probably a scam. Nonetheless, they are so desperate to make big money for nothing that they are often willing to give it a try anyway. They hope for that one in a million chance that someone is really giving away something for nothing.

There are some ways to make a lot of cash online. Some people make big money on eBay with remarkably little preparation or effort. I had a friend who was one of the first Ebay millionaires, and he told me how easy it was. Basically he started out by seeing a niche and going for it. He was selling rare and unusual records and books, as well as some antiques. He happened to have a pretty good collection and some connections with local bookstores. Although he sold his products at a very modest markup, he was peddling so many of them that they became a big moneymaker.

Nonetheless, for the most part working from home is like any other kind of work. There are no chances for big money that come straight out of the blue. For the most part, it is day in and day out, nose to the grindstone like any other job. There are some advantages to working at home, such as being able to sit around in your pajamas all day, but it also means that you have to have tremendous self-discipline. After all, once you're sitting at home alone, it is easy to get distracted by the tv, a good book, or the lure of a nap.
