STOP! You have things lurking in your home that you may not even
be aware are there. Do you really know what is under your sink?
How about your pantry? Are you aware of the contaminants in the
air? The things we can not see are the most harmful.
Let us start in your kitchen. Look around, it is a simple modest
room, neatly kept with everything in its place. Naturally, most
of us keep our cleaning products under the sink. Take a closer
look at the cupboard. Take a nice deep breath. What do you see
or smell? Pick up those bottles; twist the wrist, read the
label. Do you see words such as Danger, Warning, or Caution?
Have you really thought about what these words mean? Danger
means highest risk of injury. Warning means next lower level of
injury. Caution is the lowest level of injury, all can be
poisonous. Still, we allow these to remain under our sinks, in
our homes. We all have heard of a product called formaldehyde.
This was what the frogs were floating in, during biology class.
Is this present in your products? How would you know? Well you
don’t. You would need to do your research and find the fountain
of names that have been replaced for formaldehyde. Words such as
formic aldehyde, methyl oxide, methylene oxide, fannoform, just
to name a few. Just for your information formaldehyde has been
defined as; a colorless, pungent, and irritating gas, CH20, used
chiefly as a disinfectant and preservative. Also, know it is an
inexpensive preservative. The USEPA(US Environmental Protection
Agency) has linked formaldehyde as a carcinogen, notably
affecting the nasal sinuses, nasopharynx and brain.
Studies have shown that if formaldehyde is not stored at
appropriate room temperatures the process of out-gassing occurs.
Do you close the door when you take a shower? The temperature
gets pretty steamy in there, which adds a hint of humidity to
the air! Higher levels of heat and humidity have been proven to
intensify the amounts of formaldehyde released into the air.
Unknowingly, inhaling the out-gassed formaldehyde?
Not only are we putting ourselves at risk everyday we are
putting our loved ones at risk as well. So what is the solution?
Is there a solution? Although, we can not protect ourselves
totally from the many different forms of formaldehyde we can
take the simple steps to clear up our surroundings in our homes
and on our bodies. There are alternatives to simplifying your
exposure. I encourage you to check out your options be open
minded to what is available. It could save you and your family
from the harsh realities of cancer and other illnesses.
The writing "is on the label", so why not help yourself to help
your family. Clean up your environment. Take the next step. Open
your mind to a wonderful option that is out there. After all, it
is your health we are talking about here!
