About Being a Christian What is a Christian? According to The
American HeritageŽ Dictionary of the English Language, the
general definition of a Christian is "One who professes belief
in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and
teachings of Jesus."
There are many Christian denominations, each varying slightly in
its interpretation of the Bible teachings. But, the basic,
fundamental trait of all Christians is their belief that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world.
Christians believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, died
on the cross for the sins of mankind, was resurrected, and
returned to Heaven. Christians also believe in the literal
Second Coming of Christ. The Bible is regarded as Holy
Scripture, the Word of God.
"l am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
