The Hidden Treasure of North Africa

By: Miguel Arechavaleta

Morocco can be one of most fascinating places to visit in the
entire Arab world. It is definitely a place that is a hidden
treasure for travelers who are looking for non-traditional
places to go. As with any underdeveloped country, there are
dozens of nuances that one must know before making one's trip to
such a locale. I had the distinct privilege of going recently
and actually living with the Moroccan people. Whether it's the
amazing architecture or the delicious food you will be the
delighted by all the activities that are available to tourists.
I suggest that you take the time to visit several cities rather
than just one since each city has something different to offer.
The Fes Medina is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is a
shopper's paradise indeed. Price-gouging is such a common
phenomena towards tourists that it is just ridiculous. If you
don't play your cards right you can easily get ripped off by any
Moroccan vendor. Marrakesh is an extremely tourist-friendly
city that can without question be the highlight of anyone's trip
since it is also the country's second largest city. The
architecture is absolutely breath-taking and you will see that
opportunities for pictures are endless if you know where to go.
There are lots of different approaches to planning your trip.
Please don't take any advice from a travel agent who has never
been there. There are very few people who will actually watch
out for your interests. Take the time to do a little bit of
homework and your trip will be a homerun. Even if you are
planning a trip to Spain and you choose to visit the southern
region of the country, you will see that making the trip across
the straits of Gibraltar into North Africa is definitely an
option that you want to consider. Spending a day or two in
Morocco can be a nice change from being in Spain the entire
time. You must remember that Morocco is less geared to tourism
than the majority of Western Europe. Therefore not knowing how
to approach your trip can result in disaster. A little bit of
know-how can result in discovering one of the most interesting
places on the planet. Morocco is filled with sites that have
tremendous historical significance as well as breathtaking
views. Better yet check out one of the many castles located
throughout the country. The rolling hills as well as some of the
unknown beaches may also be worth a look. If you are planning a
trip to Morocco you absolutely must check out

crucial to making your trip a smash hit.
