The Holidays and Diet

By: VMT Singuillo

Everyone loves the holidays. It is a break from work isn't it?
However holidays bring with it advantages and disadvantages. To
the health conscious people, this article is definitely for you.

During the holidays, many people definitely make the necessary
celebrations, parties included. By having too many relatives and
friends, some people just can't be blamed that they can have the
privilege of being invited in two or more parties in a day! What
do you expect in parties? Food!

Thanksgiving in the US is greatly celebrated with turkeys and
other recipies. Imagine eating a heavy meal of turkey at lunch
and perhaps another one for dinner in the evening. That's a lot
of extra calories and fats in the diet! The outcome? Added
weight to your body!

How about during the christmas season. There's just a week of
difference between Christmas and new year. Imagine how much you
eat in each party, and how many parties you have attended during
the christmas season. If you are trying to observe a weight
control program, perhaps during this season you might say you'll
take a vacation from your weight control program temporarily.

Well, what is the best way to continue on your weight control
regimen during the holidays? The answer is DISCIPLINE.

If you know that you get to be invited into several parties in
every holiday, just eat small meals in each party. Don't
overfeed yourself. Of course it is difficult to refuse
invitations, then learn to discipline yourself with food.

Also, be sure to burn those extra calories that you have taken.
Do your regular exercise. For those with physical ailments, be
sure to consult your physician regarding the exercise that is
safe for you.

Together with food, alcoholic drinks are also offered in many
parties. Just a reminder, don't drive when you drink. And don't
drink when you drive. Why? You could possibly end up in a
coffin, a hospital, or you'd probably get a police ticket.

During the holidays, remember and practice discipline with food
and alcoholic drinks to keep yourself healthy.
